The NETVA (New Technology Venture Accelerator) competition is an acceleration program dedicated to French deep tech startups (high-level technologies, often backed by or stemming from public research laboratories) looking to deepen their knowledge of American innovation ecosystems and expand their activities across the Atlantic.
On June 23, 2021, Sonio, a deep tech specializing in the use of artificial intelligence for fetal ultrasound and prenatal diagnosis, was selected as part of the NETVA competition, for an immersion stay in Washington DC’s innovative ecosystem that will take place during the spring of 2022. The program will feature group and individual meetings with technology partners, future customers, and potential investors in the United States.
Prior to the immersion visit scheduled for 2022, a seminar organized by the NETVA program was held from September 21 to 23 this year, during which Sonio met with public innovation players such as Bpifrance, French Tech, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, who took turns to detail the range of public support mechanisms.
The seminar was also an opportunity to get a better idea of the specificities of the American market in terms of investment and fund-raising, as well as the administrative formalities specific to the United States in terms of market access. This was supported by a presentation from the network of French International Chambers of Commerce (CCI France International), which outlined the various support mechanisms that chambers based in the USA can provide during the internationalization process.
